Quality Assurance System

International Trade and Logistics Department Quality Assurance System

The quality assurance system of the department is structured as a continuous improvement cycle based on stakeholder opinions. The starting point of the system is the Program Educational Objectives (PEA) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLO). The extent to which these objectives and outcomes are achieved is monitored through data obtained from three stakeholder groups directly related to the program.

Stakeholder groups and their data sources are as follows:

  • Graduates and external stakeholders: Their opinions are recorded through external stakeholder meeting minutes and graduate tracking surveys.
  • Academic staff: Their evaluations are transferred to the system through course evaluation reports and course files.
  • Students: Their feedback is collected through course evaluation surveys and student representative opinions.

Data obtained from these sources are brought together in the assessment stage. Then the process moves to the evaluation stage. At this stage, the results are considered by the Dean’s Office, the Faculty Quality Commission, the Department Head’s Office, the Department Board and the STAR Accreditation Commission. The evaluation process is carried out in two-way interaction with the Department Advisory Board. The Advisory Board is both informed about the evaluation results and provides opinions and suggestions on the process.

The development areas determined as a result of the evaluation are turned into concrete actions in the improvement stage. In the implementation stage, these actions are put into practice. The results obtained from implementation are used as feedback in the review of the PEA and PLO. Thus, the cycle closes and the system renews itself in line with the principle of continuous improvement.
